# Configure cross stream prevention

1. From the **Input** tab, go to the **Cross stream prevention** section then click the **Add** button. The **Metadata selection** window displays.

2. Enter the **Stream ID** and optionally the **Period** (see [Cross stream prevention parameters](/beam/live-encoder/parameters/input/cross-stream-prevention)).

3. Click **Ok** to save settings and return to the service edition options. The Cross-stream prevention metadata stream is added to the list.

4. Save your settings to continue or click **Exit** to quit without saving.

5. You can add the metadata to the output stream (see [Define the output stream composition](/beam/live-encoder/configure/output/configure-output#define-the-output-stream-composition)).
